Off Season: The Stand
Another shot from the abandoned mini golf course / arcade at Salisbury Beach. This looks like it was an ice cream stand, but I can’t be sure. I don’t remember this place when it was active.
This area is intriguing to me. It gives off a vibe of being completely abandoned, yet is less than a quarter mile from a vibrant beach community.
On another note:
I want to thank everyone for the tremendous reaction to this series. I’m having a blast presenting the images and really appreciate the comments.
I have a couple of more to show you before closing out the series, but you can be sure it won’t be the last you see of this area. I have a few more tat will make it onto the Blog. Besides, its a great place to shoot when there are no crowds. I’ll definitely be back.
Oh … and I just realized “The Stand” is a movie title, and a great book. Note to my friend, Mike Olbinski, I’m not stealing “Movie Title Wednesday.”

February 3, 2011This might be my favorite in the series so far. The others look off-season, but this one looks absolutely abandoned. I think it helps that you shot not from the road, but facing the road from the back of the parking area, showing how the entire area, including its approach, is so desolate.

February 3, 2011Of course you aren’t, you are “borrowing” it to make Movie Title Thursday
Wonderful series as always…this shot is great. Just a note on why I love these so much…the sky. If you had clear skies, these wouldn’t mean the same or be the same.
Composition is perfect.
