Bolton Emerson Americas: Bits

Bolton Emerson Americas: Bits

This is an image from the “tool crib” at Bolton Emerson Americas. It’s a detail shot of one of the shelves containing drill bits and other tools and parts which, back in the day, employees would sign out to use and sign back in on return. It’s all about accountability.

Back in the day was a long time ago. Today, the company has far fewer employees on the production floor. There is no need for that level of micromanagement. They are a small, loyal crew.

If you are new to the site, this image is part of a series from a machine shop in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Bolton Emerson Americas has been in operation for over 75 years. Most of their equipment and processes have remained unchanged for 50 years, making it a fascinating place to shoot. Be sure to check out the full gallery to get caught up.
