It is only thanks to my youngest son Ryan that I visited Martha’s Vineyard this past weekend. A culinary student at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI, Ryan landed a job for the summer in the kitchen at a private golf club on the Vineyard. So, being good parents, my wife and I sucked it up and delivered him to his new job.
It was just an overnight trip, but it still afforded plenty of time to see a good portion of the Island, get a couple of good meals and some good craft beer. And time for me to get some good photography in.
Since it was just an overnight trip, I had time for one sunset and one sunrise shoot. This shot is from sunrise at Edgartown Light. I worked my way around the lighthouse to catch the rising sun against the building. And it was lining up perfectly. What I wasn’t expecting was the lighthouse keeper to be out at 5:25am watering the plants.
Thank you, Lighthouse Keeper!
Great photo Robert. I don’t know if you recall, but I met you the night before at the light. We chatted a bit about cameras and you were unsure about whether or not you’d make it out for the sunrise. I’m happy to see that you did and were rewarded with such beautiful light. Great shot.
What an incredible photo Bob! Beautiful colors in the early morning sky against a truly romantic subject of the lighthouse… perfectly executed my friend!!! The lighthouse keeper there is the ultimate proverbial cherry on top of the cake!
