I didn’t set out yesterday morning to shoot this image. I set out to practice some more with the Nikon 24mm PC-E at the Malden Mills.
While I was shooting outside the little second hand store, a guy approached me and asked me what I was taking pictures of and why. David is his name. He owns the second hand store and the building its housed in. Part of the Malden Mills Complex.
I introduced myself and explained my sick obsession with the mills. Apparently, my story struck a chord (no pun intended). Dave started pointing out the finer architectural points of the exterior of the building and offered to walk me through the interior.
I took him up on his offer and, anticipating the need to go wide, I quickly changed lenses.
After a quick tour of the first floor, Dave gave me the run of the building.
Time was not on my side. Since Dave had invited me to shoot in the building “any time” I was just doing a scouting run. I did a quick walk through, grabbing a couple of shots along the way. I made my way up the blue spiral staircase (stay tuned for that shot!) and quickly checked out each floor.
When I got to the fourth floor, I spotted the piano.
Awesome story to go with the photo…love the angle on this!
