There is something Frankenstinian about this old control panel. I half expected to see arcs of lightning and hear “ITS ALIVE!” echoing through room.

Far less sinister, this is the turbine control panel at the Pacific Mill in Lawrence. The turbines in this room supplied the power to the multi-building Pacific Mill complex.

Its hard for me to imagine what it took to master these manual controls, or how many people it took to do so.

Nano technology, this is not.

  1. I like how you were able to capture the detail in the switches…it certainly pops and makes you wonder how they operated them back in the day compared to today’s world which is all computerized.

  2. Love this shot, Bob. A lot of room for the eye to roam and play. I am looking forward to going through the past two weeks of shots to see what I’ve missed.
