Black Falcon Door

no images were found

I know, there’s a lot of black and a door in this image but no falcon. I took the name from Black Falcon Pier at Boston’s Dry Docks, where this image was shot. I hit the Dry Docks on Tuesday night with Brian Matiash. Great time. Great place to shoot.

I wound up with a few good images from the shoot. I decided to post this one first because I liked the simplicity of the composition. I also like it because I “saw it in hdr” when I took it.

The scene was essentially a black on black study, but I was confident that HDR processing would help bring out the texture, adding another dimension to the image.

I love it when a plan comes together. And I love the rivets.

I’ll be posting a few more from the Dry Docks over the next couple of weeks. If you think you might want to shoot in that area (I highly recommend it) then sign up for the Scott Kelby World Wide Photo Walk Boston, Saturday, July 24th. Brian Matiash is leading it. He knows Boston. More info here.
