Bolton Emerson Americas: Carts

The little wooden carts are everywhere. You can stack wood on them, load up machine parts and, I assume, pull your buddy down the shop floor on one while you are on break.

They are used in all sections of the shop.  At least three of Bolton Emerson Americas’ employees pointed them out to me and suggested I photograph them. It was definitely high on my list, but I wanted to wait for the right composition. I found it (the first one, I should say) in the Heat Treat area.

I like the way this decades old cart leads leads your eye into the decades old machinery into the decades old shop.

The furnace in the upper left is where the knives are forged, the cooling vat of oil across the aisle and the curing oven on the right.
