Ayer Mill Clock Tower

The iconic Ayer Mill clock tower has been keeping time over the city of Lawrence for exactly 100 years and one day today. Yesterday the 100th anniversary of the completion of the tower was celebrated with 100 chimes from the tower’s bell.

The clock tower can be see from almost any place in the city. It is an imposingly beautiful piece of industrial era architecture.

Last week I had the opportunity to venture to the roof of the Ayer Mill to photograph the tower up close. Having seen it countless times, from dozens of vantage points, I was still surprised by the size of it.

Anyway, “Happy Birthday” Clock Tower!
