The Tomb Sentinel

I decided to post a second image today, in honor of Veterans Day.
My recent visit to Washington DC afforded me a visit to Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Along with a hundred or so tourists, I watched in complete silence, the changing of the guard and wreath changing ceremonies. Although they do allow photography, I was afraid to break the silence with with the click of my shutter.
After the crowd cleared, I set up my gear at the base of the steps and watched the guard perform his solemn duty: 21 steps; turn 90 degrees, pause 21 seconds; turn 90 degrees, pause 21 seconds; Shoulder Arms; repeat.
I wanted a to capture an image of The Tomb of the Unknown that highlights the dedication of the special soldiers who protect the dignity and honor the service of our unknown fallen. I hope I was successful.
Thank and honor a Veteran today.

Bob,
I was there on Tuesday & they wouldn’t let me use my tripod at the Tomb or Kennedy’s grave. Did you have the same experience?
Hi Bob,
Great image! I’d be happy to do a free canvas wrap for you some day if you’re ever interested.
