Off Season: Colony Motel
For the most part, I’ve been going for simple and clean compositions in this series and I think this one is among the simplest.
In season, the Colony Motel parking lot would be lined with cars. Motel guests would probably be milling around doing summer things … Maybe having a beer outside a motel door, hanging towels over the rail, or dragging a cooler to the beach.
I could say that I shot this, like I did the Dolphin Motel, because there is nothing going on. But I shot it because of the broom.
This is wonderful in its’ simplicity, and the atmosphere is desolate and shivery – I like it!
I’m still loving the Green…I love how highlights from the pic…
Con grats my friend
I love how some of the rooms on the 2nd floor left still have the old doors with the louvered windows!
Love the mood of the shot, clouds are wonderful. I have been shooting old hotel/motel and diner signs, and each one tells a unique story. Well done.
Thanks for you comments, all. Glad you are enjoying the series.
