Along the Canals in Lawrence, you’ll find a series of gate controls. The gates helped control the flow of the water through the canals. Or something like that. I’m a photographer, not an engineer. All I know is, they are in various stages of delicious decay and are perfect for this type of detail shot. I’ll be doing more studies of these in the coming weeks.
This one is also from last Sunday. The gates were what I set out to shoot initially. The cold wind quickly convinced me to seek shelter between the buildings.
Who knew such a grungy subject would be so beautiful. Nice job Bob!
One of my favorites from the series. Perfect angle and sweet shallow DoF. And you know I love that tasty texture.
What a great eye for detail. Fantastic image!
The different rust patterns in the two gear wheels work well, and they remind me of those chaos theory fractal images.
This is ohhhh so good; great textures, beautiful composition and superb tones!
