Broken Windows Empty Hallways

Today’s image takes us back to the Duck Mill in Lawrence — a wonderful old building anxiously awaiting a facelift.
Leaky roofs are not uncommon in these old buildings. And while the puddles of water cause headaches for the owners, those of us lucky enough to photograph under these circumstances, couldn’t be happier. The compositional opportunities are just wonderful.
The image title is a line from a song by one of my favorite singer/songwriters, Randy Newman. I don’t care who you are, or how old you are, you know at least one song written by (if not sung by) him.
This particular song, I thought appropriate:
“I Think its Going to Rain Today”
On Another Note:
I know I promised the “onOne Takes On” image for today, but It will have to wait. The Webinar is not available yet.
I really like the composition focus and dark tone! Great work!

Lovely composition, I really enjoy this. Going to have to dig back into the photos from the mills when we were out there. We should spin up another collab’n.
Great image Bob. Cool reflections and great composition! Dig it!
Great shot Bob – is this the same room that Matiash posted a while back? Love the reflections and the great sense of scale.
This is such a Bob shot. Really creative composition and spot on processing. Almost seems like a mysterious black liquid on the floor.
Stupendous shot man. Love great comp and a nice spin on the reflection photo.
That is a really well thought out composition. Nice work Bob!
Love the comp and the reflections. I also like the tilt effect too!
This is such a wonderful shot Bob! The composition, DOF, everything!
The framing is perfect with the reflection line created by the windows. Nice one Bob.
This is so surreal and Terminator 2-like… I just love it.
Geez, Bob, the eye goes STRAIGHT to the reflection cast in the pool of water there!! As you said, a wonderful compositional opportunity for those who know how to leverage this! What an awesome shot, my friend.
The master of reflection. Nice job dude!
Wow! Nice shot. Love the reflections in this. Cool comp.
Thanks guys. I appreciate the comments very much!
The reflections create an optical illusion; convincing us that there is another level to the floor. Would look stunning on canvas!
This is so freakin awesome. Love the framing and darkness of the scene.
Another fantastic shot.
Fantastic composition. Love the hint of the windows in the upper part of the frame, and the reflections of those windows in the water.
superb, i must head into these mills with your eminence 🙂
