Vertigo
The seemingly endless winding climb to the top of the tower can make you lose your place. The tight spiral takes you up about 12 stories, but you would never know it. You just climb. Sure, there are a few landings. But none of them give you perspective. You just keep climbing.
Along the way you marvel at the details of the original construction. The brick work, the iron work on the gates, insignia “LWW” (for Lawrence Water Works) forged on each step tell you that this tower was designed and built to last.
You wonder how they installed the 100+ foot center post that anchors the spiral steps. How many people? How much time?
Mostly, you are happy this structure has been preserved.
Awesome detail perspective Bob. Wonderful image and narrative!
I agree with Jim, great narrative to go along with the image. Love that brick and metal work.
Lovely detail, but the narrative compliments this image so well. Awesome post today!
The spiral just draws you right in. Absolutely love the shadow play in this.
This rocks man, I’m with Jesse – the shadows just draw you right down into the depths. Love it.
Shoot the stairs!
you got nice, ahem………………………….stairs.
Digging the soft shadows in the stairwell.
What a great shot shot!
Oh my goodness, the lines here are just so incredible! Love the textures in the brickwork, and the details in the stairs themselves are absolutely without peer.
I’m digging the portrait crop – it just works… all of it!
Epic perspective. Epic shot. That is all.
Love the shadows! Really awesome shot!
That’s a classic. I really like the handrail spiraling down the staircase. Excellent!
