Electric Eye

In macro, Vintage by Robert Lussier6 Comments

I have to say, I really like photographing old things. Especially when I’m connected to the old things I shoot.

This is a detail shot from an old relic my mother gave me last week. I thought it would be fun to play a guessing game with this. I think I provided enough details for an astute reader to guess the item.

Full reveal tomorrow.

  1. Looks like some modell of a Bell & Howell electric eye. Good piece of vintage equipment!

  2. Isn’t Google a wonderful thing? I love this kind of old stuff too though “old stuff” doesn’t feel so old these days. My 11 year old was in my office a couple of days ago and picked up a 35mm slide I had been scanning. After a couple of quizzical expressions, he held it up to the window and announced “wow – it has a picture in it!”. It made me feel very old indeed.

Dave cheated, but he’s like that. Yes, it’s a 1959 Bell & Howell Electric Eye, 8mm movie camera. I even have the projector to go with it. The camera works (I think). I haven’t tested the projector yet.
