Hazy Center

One of my favorite shoots last year was the day I spent with my good friend and amazing photographer, Jacques Gudé. And my favorite part of the day was the whirlwind hour we spent at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington Dulles International Airport.

We arrived about an hour before closing but didn’t expect to find a nearly empty museum. With no crowds of tourists clamoring to get their shots, Jacques and I were free to roam the floor and shoot at will.

As you walk in, this is the scene that greets you. A spectacular view of the SR-71 Blackbird, framed by dozens of other delicious aircraft and artifacts.

This is one of my three favorite shots from the day. The other two are of the SR-71 and the Space Shuttle Enterprise.
