Notice Keep Clean The Hydrant

Another shot from an epic day of shooting the mills with Dave Wilson.

This shot is a testament to returning to a favorite, familiar location to shoot. I’ve been to the Pacific Mill dozens of times under different conditions, different times of day, yet it is never quite the same. Take this hydrant, for example. It has always been a potential subject, but I usually took a pass. The couple of times I did shoot it, I was not happy with the results.

But I never shot it at 10:30 AM on sunny late summer day. The angle of the sun against bouncing through the mill complex created some wonderful shadows that finally gave me the right shot.
