Feast of the Three Saints

Over the Labor Day Weekend I tried to avoid anything that remotely resembled labor. I call it “getting into the spirit of the holiday.”
Luckily, I don’t consider shooting and processing images work. So on Saturday night I hit the streets of Lawrence to do some shooting at the Feast of the Three Saints, otherwise known as The Italian Festival. The Feast celebrates the martyrdom and sainthood of three Italian brothers, Alfio, Filadelfo and Cirino. This year marked the 90th year of the festival. You can read about the Alfio, Filadelfo & Cirino Society on their site.
Anyway, the Feast is a celebration and street festival complete with carnival games and food. In this case, in addition to the rich italian foods, a good selection of junk food — including fried oreos.
Above is an image of the statues of the Three Saints, which are paraded through the streets at the conclusion of the festival. Below, a gallery of games, a food truck and a carnival prize. Enjoy!
Glad to see you made it downthe the Feast
