1915 AD was the year construction began on Arlington Memorial Amphitheater at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC. It was dedicated in 1920. On its eastern steps (beyond the far arch in this picture) is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers.

This structure replaced an old wooden amphitheater that still stands at Arlington House, Robert E Lee’s home. Also at Arlington House, as is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers from the Civil War.
