The overriding reason I shoot the mills in Lawrence is to preserve their rustic beauty and their history in photographs. This image is an illustration of that mission.
Since the migration of the textile industry to the South in the 1950s, the Pacific Mill, like the Everett and Stone, has had many tenants. Collectively, those tenants have contributed to the buildings’ survival as commercial property.
This is an example of mill space that didn’t require an extensive build-out to accommodate a business — the remnants of a boxing gym in the Pacific Mill.
Some day this will be someone’s apartment. Forever, it will be my photograph.
I have to say Bob, that mirror in the background is pretty cool!
Thanks Justin. There is a lot more space to explore here. It is a very cool place.
Nice one, Bob. Great find! Yes, and that mirror is cool.
