After being held hostage by a snowstorm and blisteringly cold temperatures that cursed the area after New Year’s Day, I took advantage of yesterday’s balmy 40 degree, sunny weather and went shooting. Plum Island was the plan.
Plum Island is a mile-long island situated at the mouth of the Merrimack River, just off the coast of Newburyport, Massachusetts. It is a busy little beach community in the summer, but very quiet in the winter.
My main goal was to find a spot to play with my Olympus OM-D EM-1 and the 10 stop ND filter. I was really curious as to how it would perform. And I am pleased to report that it performed swimmingly, even if the only subject I could find was less than compelling!
The image above was another reason I wanted to go. I’ve seen shots of this house before and wanted to go and shoot it for myself. The recent snowfall helped provide the leading lines. And I was happy to get some great clouds.
Plum Island is so beautiful in the off season.
This is a really wonderful image.
This place looks cool Bob, is it abandoned?
