The Mystic Generating Station looms about a mile off of Rte 93 in Charlestown, Massachusetts on the Mystic River. It’s one of those things I’ve driven past a million times thinking, “I should go and photograph that.” So on a very lazy Saturday in this very new year, I decided to get off my butt, take a drive and check it out.
It started as a scouting mission. I arrived at 2:30 PM and had no intention of staying for more than an hour, especially with snow predicted to come in late in the afternoon. But after retreating to my car to review some of the shots, I decided to wait out sunset. Of course it helps that the sun sets early this time of year.
This is one of the early shots and a favorite from the shoot. That’s the Tobin Bridge on the right.
