Mesa Arch Redux

Happy New Year, everyone!

For my first official post of 2016 I decided to dip back into my images from my 2013 trip to Moab. I know, it may sound like an odd thing to do, but I do so with purpose. It is, in part, related to one of my New Year’s Resolutions — which I will get into in a later post.

Anyway, this is Mesa Arch just after dawn in the spring of 2013. Don’t let the desolate feel fool you. I was not alone when I shot this. Far from it. I was crammed in, shoulder to shoulder, with other photographers — some whom got there at 4:00AM to secure a seat for the morning light show. It is one of the most photographed spots in the country, but for some reason, everyone else’s photograph of it is forgotten when you get your own.

While I was happy with the original processing of this image, the evolution of my processing style prompted me to revisit it. I hope you like it.
