Snake River Bend


This week I’ll be presenting a handful of images from one single sunset shoot in the Tetons — a single night that delivered four of the most amazing sunsets I’ve ever seen (yes, you read that right). But before I get to the magic, I want to set the scene.

Being on the east side of the Tetons, we expected more color and drama from our sunrise visits. Plus, our last attempt at sunset at Oxbow Bend the night before was a a complete bust. So we arrived here at Snake River Bend with guarded expectations.

This was the scene an hour or so before sunset. The clouds appeared thick — perhaps too thick. But we hoped for some color. Still, we figured, it would be hard to take a bad picture at this iconic location, so we staked out our spots and waited for sunset.
