Not surprisingly, Lawrence will play a big role in my image a day challenge. In addition to the mills, which I photograph with some regularity, I’ve been drawn to the storefronts of the barbershops, bodegas and other businesses in this vibrant immigrant city. I went out earlier tonight in search of a store. This wig caught my eye as I drove by.
On another note:
The 2017-365 thing for me is only a part of my photographic year. Wrapped in 365 is “We35,” a creative challenge from my friends at The Photo Frontier. The idea is to conduct photographic “research” at the fixed focal length of 35mm. (That is in full frame terms of course, so in my case I’ll be using my Olympus Pen-F with the 17mm f1.8 lens.) We’ll be presented with monthly challenges, or “expeditions”.
So why not do just We35? When I did the first We35 in 2015, I got lazy. I spent three weeks thinking about what to shoot to complete the expedition and less than a week actually seeking out the shot. I’m looking for that to change this time around.
