Day 82: The Weight Band

The Weight Band, in case you can’t deduce from the title, plays the music of The Band. The musicians of The Weight Band were all closely associated with the original band and/or original members. The Weight plays The Band with loyalty and love.

The Band is easily one of my top two music groups and, sadly, I never got to see them perform live. Nor did I get to see any of them perform as solo acts. So the show tonight at the Bull Run Restaurant in Shirley, MA was a special treat for me. Joining me was my son, Thom — who I proudly brought up with an appreciation for Classic Rock.

What? You’ve never heard of The Band? Surely you know their songs… Up on Cripple Creek? The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down? … No? … SERIOUSLY??!!

We’ll how about this one:

What is this, some kind of series?

Yes, it is! Throughout 2017 I’m attempting to take a new image every day and post it to this blog. Ambitious, I know. Success is not guaranteed, but I’ll give it my all. You can see all of the images below. Just click on a thumbnail and flip through them.

  1. Very cool! I live just a couple miles from the Bull Run; I’ve run past there frequently. I notice on their marquee they often have some performers that I would not expect a bar in such a small town to pull in, but I’ve never been in for a show (small kids at home with no ready access to babysitting…). Glad you had fun, keep up the great photos, I enjoy your work!
