The Stable at Hess Ranch

Bea (Walsh) Bible told me of the similarities between the construction of the buildings on the ranch and those found in Patrick Walsh’s birth home, Bantry Bay, Ireland. This stable is a good example. It is easy to walk among these old structures and visualize not just a different time, but a different place. While …

The Barn at Hess Ranch

In 50mm 1.4, nevada, Travel, urbex by Robert Lussier1 Comment

I shot this little barn from a couple of angles but this was my favorite. I loved the context that the mountains in the background and the two wired give the image. It is isolated, but connected. The Hess Ranch is located along a long stretch of a long dirt road. I did a lot …

Bare Trees

In 50mm 1.4, landscape, panorama by Robert Lussier3 Comments

OK, so this panoramic image doesn’t translate to a narrow web page, but please bare with me. I hiked last Sunday to the top of Looking Glass Rock in the Pigsah Forest, North Carolina with my running buddies (we were in the area last week to run the Black Mountain Marathon). On the hike …

Every few weeks they have an Open Mic Night where the …

Last fall I had the pleasure of doing some product shots of Smuttynose Brewery’s collection of Big Beers. Joanne, Smuttynose’s marketing director, and I hauled a case of the 22 oz bottles down to the shore in Portsmouth and used the natural elements to compliment the bottles. This is one of my favorite beers …

In 50mm 1.4, New York by Robert Lussier5 Comments

Click on image or the terrorists win. New York City is the land of “bucket list” shots for me. And the Flatiron Building is probably number one on my list. Back in college I was in awe of the work of the early photographers like Edward Steichen, Alfred Stieglitz and Paul Strand. All three of …

Bolton-Emerson Americas: Blade

In 50mm 1.4, industrial by Robert Lussier3 Comments

Here is a detail shot from Bolton-Emerson Americas’ wood shop. This old table saw has to be over 80 years old. It was manufactured by the J.A. Fay & Eagan Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. Judging from the cast iron labels on so many of the machines at Bolton, I think Cincinnati had to be …
